Connectivity
As our society grows the need to stay connected has become more and more important. It began with letters, grew to telephones, then to the internet and email. As technology grows, so does our ability to stay connected to one another, but what is the next step in connectivity? How can we become more connected then we already are? Each stage of society has wondered the same thing, each has wondered what the future holds in store. Some dreamers believe that the next step in connectivity is in fact the human. Instead of relying on external devices to connect to the internet and other people, some say that implants will take the place of computers and cell phones. There would be no more carrying around a laptop to check email, or news, no more using a phone to call your friends instead an implants would do it all for you allowing you to use your mind to connect to the world on a whole new plane. Many science fiction novels have explored this idea, but no practical test have been attempted as far as I know. At the moment it would seem impossible to do such things with our current understanding of technology, but with advancment happening at an exponential rate who knows how soon testing and application of this process may come about.
