Scientists in the UK have created a robot that they think has actually reached a new accurate scientific discovery on its own. It built an experience, conducted each stage of the scientific process: come up with hypothesis, develop experiement, ran experiement, interpret results, repeat cycle. The robotic computer system "Adam" discovered "simple but new scientific knowledge about the genomes of baker's yeast". Scientists verified the results with their own manual experiment.
The practical use of these robots would be to help out scientists in labs since "the detailed records of biological experiments that are sometimes 'irksome for human scientists' are easy for robots". The uniqueness of Adam is its ability to develop theories and its ability to reason.
