If the Singularity is inevitable, as some, including Kurzweil, would have us assume, then what can we do about it? How can we prepare ourselves for what's to come? There are a couple of different things people can do to prepare for the supposed coming Singularity. The most obvious way to prepare is to ensure that people are aware and cognizant of what is going on in the technological world. Improving education on a variety of technology-related subjects like computing, nanotechnology and genetics (to name a few) might help to ensure that people are more generally informed about things involved in the Singularity.
It is also important for people to maintain an open mind about what the future may hold. Certain aspects of the Singularity have the potential to greatly improve mankind as a whole, through aiding in eliminating diseases, improving general quality of life, and even extending life entirely. Obviously there will need to be some manner of restriction or regulation, and it will be necessary for people to follow those rules laid down. Ultimately, assuming people are able to maintain an open mind, and to stay current and informed, then when (or if) the Singularity should come, humanity should hopefully be in a better and more prepared position for it, whatever it may bring.
