"Disabled Can Walk Again"

Radi Kaiof demonstrates how the 'rewalk' allows him to walk

Do you know someone who is paralyzed and can never walk again? Dr. Amit Goffer understands the daily struggles of a paraplegic because he too is confined to a wheelchair. But his inability to walk did not stop him from inventing the next advancement in robotic technology - the 'rewalk.' This device resembles leg braces but have motion sensors and computers to assist the person using them. Even though the rewalk is still in it's initial testing phase, Dr. Goffer hopes to have his product available to the public by 2010.

I cannot help but wonder how amazing it must be to walk again when doctors had told me that I would never be able to. What an achievement! Scientists are constantly trying to make the human body better and extend human life. What's next? Robotic lungs? Cyborgs may be a closer reality than we think.
