Sometimes things that we think will be good turn out not to be. This is the worst part of the unforeseeable: when the technology we developed to help us actually hurts us. Like texting: experts are saying that the long-term effects of sending an average of more than 2,500 text messages per teen in America last year may reach from spelling and writing ability and all the way into attention span and the structure of the nervouse system. And that's a mild example. The "genetic bomb" that we read about last night would be an extreme example.
