Over the course of the semester we have talked about several viewpoints towards technology. With the rapid growth of technology there are bound to be opposing perspectives of the effects that technology will have on our lives. In the following links I will discuss Utopian and Dystopian views of technology as well as whether it is possible to find a happy medium between those two outlooks.
For the utopian views towards technology I will draw from the readings that we did in class by Levy and Brand. The attitude in these pieces was one of faith and hope in the technological movement. The focus of the dystopian page will also revolve around the excerpt from the Transmetropolitan comic as well as other dystopian views focused on in our class discussion.
Finally I will discuss the reality, that there is no absolute good or bad nature to technology, it comes with both. I will discuss the practical benefits that technology has had personally in my life. I will also offer my personal views on how technology could be seen as a negative force.
